For those of you who are new to the Sun Lakes area, our golfing group, the Oakwood Lady Niners (OLNGA), has been around for well over 30 years. We started in a trailer as the “golf shop/starter’s area.” Boy, have we come a long way! We have around 50 ladies who are members, and are always looking for new golfers. We play each Tuesday starting around 9 a.m. As a member, you don’t have to play each week—just sign up on Chelsea for the times you want! To get more information about joining, call Bonnie Tasch at 303-547-8849.

So far this year, we have four new members to add to our growing membership: Debra Folken, Elaine Ralls, Becky Kolb, and Julie Jarvi. Welcome! We know you will find our group is interested in playing some golf and having a great time!

We will be having our first luncheon of the year on Dec. 1. This will be our holiday luncheon with the “ugly sweater contest;” always a fun event!

For those who have the impression that the courses in Oakwood are too difficult, let me clarify. In the OLNGA group, you can play from the yellow or silver tees. The silver tees were verified by the USGA for rating and slope (difficulty). All three 9-hole courses in Oakwood are rated as easier than the average U.S. golf course. Oakwood’s courses are considered championship courses, but only slightly longer than the Ironwood executive course when playing from the forward tees (and a lot shorter than the Cottonwood course!). So, if you’re interested in joining a great group of ladies, come give us a try! Call Bonnie Tasch at 303-547-8849 for more information.
