The Lenten season begins with Ash Wednesday on February 14, 2018. The members of the Sun Lakes United Church of Christ will be collecting items each Sunday during Lent to distribute to the less fortunate. We are asking for donations of items that cannot be bought with money from government subsidies. Instead of giving up something for Lent, we want to give to someone.

Subsidies that poor or homeless members of the community receive cannot be used to purchase non-food items. Therefore, we will be collecting paper goods (toilet paper, Kleenex, paper towels) one Sunday, personal care items another (toothpaste, shampoo, shaving cream), detergent, dish washing soap, Band-Aids and diapers on other Sundays. At the end of Lent, we will deliver the goods collected to the homeless elderly at Justa Center, homeless families at UMOM and abused women at Sojourner Center.
