A wide variety of aviation-related presentations, including a talk on the events leading up to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, will highlight the first three gatherings for the Sun Lakes Aero Club’s 2018-19 season.

The November 19 speaker will be retired USAF and Commemorative Air Force member Jim Evans. He will discuss the history of the B-17 Flying Fortress and the “Sentimental Journey,” a refurbished B-17 hangared at the Commemorative Air Force Museum at Falcon Field in Mesa.

On December 17, Sun Lakes resident Tony Contrabasso will present “Anatomy of Treachery,” a discussion of the causes for the attack at Pearl Harbor.

The January 21 speaker will be another Sun Lakes resident, George Abernathy, who will talk about his experiences as a door gunner in a cobra gun ship during hunter/killer missions in Vietnam.

Articles in the Splash will provide information on the February through April Aero Club programs.

Now in its 23nd year, the Sun Lakes Aero Club sponsors programs the third Monday of each month, November through April, at the Sun Lakes Country Club. The programs are open to all Sun Lakes residents and others interested in aviation.
