Aero Club flies in to Ryan Field

Gary Vacin

Eight Sun Lakes Aero Club (SLAC) members and two guests showed up at Ryan Field for the club’s first fly-in breakfast of the season. Gene Evans and Gary West were passengers in Steve Perkins’ Cessna 182. Jim Theobald rode with Bill Brown in Brown’s Cessna Cardinal. Bob DeLong and Jim Ingelmund were passengers in Paul Beeks’ Bellanca Cruisemaster. Doug Whitaker arrived in a Cessna 172.

The eight were met by honorary member Jessica Cox and her husband, Christopher. Cox, the first armless woman to receive a pilot’s license, will be the featured speaker at SLAC’s monthly gathering beginning at 6:30 p.m. on January 18 at the Sun Lakes Country Club’s Mirror Room. The public is invited to attend.
