What inspired you to write crime mystery novels?

With a law enforcement background, I thought it would be easier to write about a subject I was familiar with. My stories are fictional for the most part but, then again, there is an element of truth in each of them.

When you’re not writing, how do you occupy your time?

My wife and I have lived in Sun Lakes Cottonwood for eight years. I’ve been involved in the community for the entire time. First on the Activities Committee, the ACC committee and the Safety Committee. Currently I’m President of the Sun Lakes Arts and Craft Association.

Do you remember the first story you wrote?

Yes, it was a short story that I never completed and a completely different subject matter. Maybe one of these days I’ll get back to it, but I enjoy writing crime mystery the most.

What do you read for pleasure?

Other crime, police, detective mystery writers. A couple of my favorite authors are David Baldacci, Lee Childs and Larry Tyree.

What is your e-reading device of choice?

I like a Kindle, but I prefer the physical book.

Describe your desk.

I would prefer it to be neat and tidy; however, at times, it is a mess, but I know where everything is and I don’t want anyone to touch it. My wife lets me know when it’s time to put it in order. I make lots of notes when checking references on material needed for a novel.

What is the story behind your latest book?

My latest book is titled Martini 2: Abduction. It is about a small child being abducted. I will be offering it for sale and a book signing at the Fall Arts and Crafts Show, along with my other books, on November 25. The show is located at Sun Lakes Country Club. I will be in the Navajo Room.

What are you working on next?

It’s the third and last in the Martini series. I’m about a third of the way through the novel titled Martini 3: Body Count. It should be published by August, 2018. It is centered in Seattle. They have a problem with a serial killer.

Do you belong to a writers’ group?

Yes, a small group. We meet every Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at the Cottonwood Café. I would like to invite anyone interested in writing to join us. A couple of writers are published, and others are just beginning.
