‘Beau Jest’ takes the stage this fall

Marcia Stevic

Sun Lakes Community Theatre’s (SLCT) fall, 2017, play, Beau Jest, written by James Sherman, is a hilarious romantic comedy that was a phenomenal hit off-Broadway and became a movie, appearing in theatres in 2008!

Sarah, a young, single Jewish woman with strong family ties, is dating a non-Jewish man whom she fears will not meet with her “old-school,” very traditional parents’ approval. So, she invents the “ideal” boyfriend to please her parents, a Jewish doctor who graduated from Harvard, no less! When they insist on meeting him, she employs an escort service to send her a Jewish date to pretend to be her “beau.” As Sarah grows enamored with her pretend suitor, zany, hysterically-funny complications escalate, and the outcome becomes increasingly unpredictable!
