The SLBLC, in partnership with the Casa Grande and the Mesa Thunderbird Lions, administered vision screening tests to students from the 5th, 6th and 9th grade and all new students (over 430 children) in a “pass-fail” system. Students who failed were recommended to see an eye doctor. SLBLC President Brian Curry said, “One of the first missions of the Lions Club was to fight vision problems and blindness. No less than Helen Keller charged the Lions with that back in 1925. Though Lions now are about so much more community help, fighting vision problems will always be dear to our hearts.”
