Sun Lakes 199er’s Duplicate Bridge

Susan Stewart

The 99er/199er Board Representative is Susan Stewart, 480-895-6385. All games are held at Risen Savior Lutheran Church, 23914 S. Alma School Road, unless otherwise announced.

The 0-99er Beginner/Novice Group meets Thursday mornings with a special review lesson which begins at 8:15 a.m. Director Maria Davis will provide great teaching and playing experience for all those interested in learning or coming back to the great game of bridge. Partners are suggested but not required – newcomers are welcome and encouraged to attend and to enjoy this excellent opportunity.

Currently, on many Mondays and Tuesdays, the room is divided into two groups if there is sufficient attendance: 0-499’ers who are Non-Life Masters and the Open Group consisting of 500 mp’s and above and all Life Masters. However, any player is always welcome to attend the Open Games.

All players must check in no later than 15 minutes before the start of any game in order for directors to seat you properly. However, you may be turned away if you arrive late or if the room has been filled to capacity, so it is advisable to arrive 30 minutes prior to the start of games.

Partnership Coordinators and Unit Information: Sun Lakes Unit 351 will always assist you if you need a partner. Contact our partnership coordinators Eileen Utter, Barbara Lubsen and Carol Warner at bridgepardsatgmail.com and provide your information. For information on Sun Lakes Unit 351, check online at www.unit351.com, click the Clubs tab, click on Sun Lakes and you will find many links for all information, schedules and results. Plan to come and be part of a great organization.

Monthly Hint: Courtesy is the Golden Rule of Duplicate Bridge to partners, opponents and directors. Carefully avoid any remark or action that might cause embarrassment or which may interfere with others’ enjoyment of the game. Greet your new opponents at the table and thank them at the end of the round. Call the director in a courteous manner using the word “please.” Be mindful of tones in one’s voice. If you are treated discourteously, it is always proper to call the director.
