Sun Lakes Duplicate Bridge

The Sun Lakes Duplicate Bridge Club games are held at Risen Savior Lutheran Church (23914 S. Alma School Road).

Open games are held on Monday at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday at 1:30 p.m., Thursday at 1:30 p.m. and Saturday at 9:00 a.m. There also is a Novice game Thursday at 8:30 a.m., Tuesday a 499’ers game at 1:30 p.m. (if there are enough entries in the field) and Saturday at 9:00 a.m. subject to having enough entries. Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to game time!

If you are in need of a partner for any Open Games, please contact the Players’ Pairs Assistants Eileen Utter, Kay Kennedy and Carol Warner at [email protected]. Please try the email first if you have access to a computer. Fees for the game are $6.00/person if you are a member of the club or $7.00/person if not a club member.

If there is a problem at the table, whether a bidding problem or a playing problem, do NOT assume that you or your opponents know the correct answer. Call the director in a polite manner and let the director give all the options. Everyone will feel much better if this procedure is followed.

Sun Lakes Duplicate Bridge Intermediate/Novice

Come one, come all!

The Sun Lakes Duplicate Bridge Club has a group for everybody who likes to play duplicate bridge! Beginners, advanced beginners, social bridge players learning duplicate bridge, former players, just-finished-the-classes players and even rusty players are invited and encouraged to attend the Thursday morning duplicate bridge group that meets at 8:15 a.m. at Risen Savior Lutheran Church, 23914 S. Alma School Road. A short lesson is presented followed by two hours of playing bridge hands. During the game, instructors are available to answer questions and help with the bidding process. The game is friendly, non-competitive and welcoming for players at the beginning level. If you don’t have a partner, it doesn’t matter – one will be found for you. Beginning bridge is a great way to meet new people and keep your brain cells young! Experienced players must have less than 99 master points to participate in the Thursday morning group. The cost is $6 for members of the Bridge Club and $7 for non-members. If you like bridge, joining the Sun Lakes Bridge Club is only $10 per year. Master points are awarded to the top finishers in the Thursday morning group each week. Questions about the group can be directed to Anne Newman at [email protected].

Tuesday/Thursday Afternoon Games:

In addition to the Thursday morning session, the Sun Lakes Bridge Club offers two more opportunities for Intermediate and Novice players to play against each other. On Tuesday and Thursday afternoons at 1:30 p.m., during the regular club game, a separate game is offered for those players with less than 499 master points. Partners are required for these games, and you should arrive about 30 minutes before game time. Sun Lakes Unit 351 will always assist you if you need a partner. Top score for Novice and Intermediate players during the month of September was a 69.21% game by Jim Libby and Linda Lee Jurgens on September 20. This was during the afternoon 499er session.
