Centennial birthday bash at the Perfect Place

It was party time at The Perfect Place on Friday afternoon, May 11, as we held our annual Centennial Birthday Bash. This year’s guests of honor were Sarah Getty, celebrating her 100th birthday, and Jean Arthur, celebrating her 101st birthday.

The Perfect Place, an adult daycare facility, knows how to throw a party! The party began with a prayer by Rev. Peter Spallek, asking God’s blessing on this special event, followed by a visit from Ron Clavecilla, who entertained everyone with his singing and his humor. Ron had everyone singing along to tunes from the ‘40s and the ‘50s, and when he sang songs from Broadway, it was everyone’s job to name the musical.

Following the entertainment, the party included munchies of fruit, cheese and crackers, and the presentation of a handmade quilt signed by all in attendance to each of our birthday girls. Both Sarah and Jean also received a Raggedy Ann doll. Raggedy Ann is also celebrating 100 years, so the gift seemed perfect.

You can’t have a birthday party at The Perfect Place without cake and ice cream. While the cake and ice cream was being enjoyed, we spent some time discussing how the world has changed in 100 years. We also enjoyed a poem written and recited by Sarah about her son as a little boy.

The party ended with a prayer by Judy Waltersdorf, the Director of Operations at The Perfect Place, praising and thanking God for these two beautiful women and for our friends, their caregivers, our volunteers and staff at The Perfect Place.

The Perfect Place is a social and recreational day care facility (non-medical), providing a loving and nurturing environment for seniors through games, chair exercises, entertainment, educational challenges, art and music, snacks and more.
