Sue Donovan recognized that not everyone can be a star when it comes to bocce ball tournaments. So with a little help from her husband Tim Donovan, she did what she thought might make some Sisk Park Bocce Club members feel better about being in the lower divisions of the club. She put together a tournament just for those club members in Divisions G through L and called it the Low Hanging Fruit Tournament. So appropriate – isn’t that where the best fruit always comes from? The bottom of the tree. Yes!

At the end of March, over 30 bocce club participants came and played their hearts out while spectators watched and cheered. And guess what? They had a great time! It was a hot afternoon and there were snacks and refreshments right up next to the courts so they didn’t have to go far to eat or get refreshed or fill up with icy cold water. There were prizes for the top teams and one bottom team and a promise of the same fun next year as Sue agreed to be the InterClub Director for the club. And that’s who puts the fun stuff together.

The winners: 1st Judy Rethke, Diane Roberts, Sue Sindelar and Sharon Tell; 2nd Lil Abdil, Pam Currier, Richard Koon and Jim Roberts; booby prize went to Ronnie Heth, Carol Kennedy, Craig Kirby and Tim Sindelar.

Everyone’s a winner in the Low Hanging Fruit Tournament. Congratulations to each and every one of you who enjoyed playing or came to watch.
