Among the new members who joined the Cotillion Dance Club last season were Keith and Lyn Kenner. Keith is a retired U.S. car manufacturer executive, and Lyn is a performing artist. You may recognize her as Lyn Jackson, the lead vocalist in the Lyn Jackson Ensemble. Lyn is from Chicago and began her career as lead singer of the Sequins at the age of 14. The group’s song, “Hey Romeo” was a Top 40 hit on the Billboard R&B charts. Lyn went on a national tour, performing at New York’s famed Apollo Theater and other major venues. Audiences are captivated by Lyn’s smooth and sultry voice and her compelling stage presence. Lyn has performed with such renowned artists as James Brown, the Staple Singers and Al Green. She has opened for Lou Rawls and is an accomplished studio singer, songwriter and recording artist. Keith and Lyn are wonderful people and have been a great addition to the Cotillion Dance Club membership – Keith is also a great golfer!

The 2017-2018 season opens with Havana Nights on October 14, 2017. This will be a semi-formal affair where Cuban sunset fine dining/dancing attire from the ‘50s is appropriate. The Lyn Jackson Ensemble will be presenting a themed performance. They were a smash hit last March. Lyn’s vocals were truly memorable. Be sure to mark your calendars and register early. Lyn packs the ballroom, and guest seating will undoubtedly be limited.

One of our dance studio sponsors is Fred Astaire Dance Studio of Chandler. This is their third season as a Cotillion Dance Club sponsor. We appreciate their continued service to the club. The Fred Astaire Studio will be providing six group lessons for the 2017-2018 season. Over the course of the season, these two-hour lessons will cover East Coast Swing, Foxtrot, Waltz, Rumba, Tango and Cha Cha instruction.
