Danielle King of MANA House to speak at Jewish War Veterans Meeting – March 15

George Stahl

The March meeting of the Jewish War Veterans will double as a platform for the organization’s installation of new officers. The meeting will be on Sunday, March 15, at 11 a.m. in the Saguaro Room at the Cottonwood Country Club where the 2020 officers will be sworn in. The post will also honor their Person of the Year and award pins for years of service to some well-deserving members. The Installation Ceremony will be followed by a delicious lunch and an informative and inspirational presentation by guest speaker Danelle King. King is the Senior Program Manager for Catholic Charities’ MANA House.

The members of Post 619 extend a cordial welcome to anyone who wishes to join in the day’s event. Tickets are $25 per person, and reservations can be made by contacting Joyce at 480-802-4902. Meal choices for the luncheon are a finely-prepared brisket or mouth-watering chicken Limon. The reservation deadline is Thursday, March 5. Be sure to call Joyce before then, because the event has proven to be increasingly popular.

MANA House is a holistic Veterans Transitional Living program dedicated to helping homeless Veterans get back on their feet. MANA House provides permanent solutions for veterans to return to being self-sustaining members of society after experiencing setbacks in their lives.

As Senior Program Manager for MANA House since 2017, Danelle King directs the work being done to help provide affordable housing and work training programs for the vets participating in the services MANA House provides. She served as Housing Stability Coordinator at UMOM New Day Centers, (United Methodists Outreach Ministries). King has also served as the Veterans Program Manager at Central Arizona Shelter Services (CASS).

According to King, “Everyone deserves a second chance in life.” She has a strong commitment to see homelessness end through people working together to find housing solutions for individuals who have been involved with the justice system. Her work at MANA House is a result of her experiences with vets who have fallen onto hard times and her service to our country as a fellow veteran in the U.S. Army.

King continually looks for new opportunities to become more involved with the social needs of our citizens, veterans in particular. King urges any veteran and their families to come to MANA House with all of their questions and needs. King also invites vets who wish to help fellow vets to become a volunteer at MANA House. To learn more about this, call MANA House at 602-254-6785 or come out March 15 at 11 a.m. and meet with her in person.
