Fun Lakers Club news

The Fun Lakers Club held a fantastic “high school” homecoming dance on March 25. It was a super evening for reminiscing about our teenage years while dancing to our favorite ‘60s music. We crowned our homecoming king and queen and tried to answer trivia questions about the ‘60s. It’s amazing how much time has gone by, and yet we still know the lyrics of our favorite songs! What a blast! A special “thank you” to Joan Bachand and her committee for their hard work in making this event such a great success.

Our next FLC event is a members-only, Sonoran Progressive Dinner on April 29. The format is different this year. We will begin the evening with members meeting at the Cottonwood parking lot to receive informational packets including Host Home designations and driving directions. The first stop will be for drinks and appetizers. After enjoying ceviche, guacamole and a seven-layer dip, guests will travel to their second location for dinner. The main course will feature a Sonoran gourmet dinner with two entrees, beef and chicken, and delicious sides. Following dinner, everyone will meet back at the Oakwood Poolside Cafe for dessert, music and dancing. It’s a great way to meet and make new friends, both in a small and large group setting.

Details for the progressive dinner have been sent out to all members. If you haven’t joined the Fun Lakers Club, this may be just the right time. You will have an opportunity to meet many new people and join in on the creative and fun events that FLC offers. To find out more about the club, please check us out at www.funlakers.org. Everything you need to join in on the fun is on our website.

As you can see, the Fun Lakers Club events are created and developed by members who volunteer. Our success is based on the goal – Just for the Fun of It! With that in mind, we are asking for members to consider joining the FLC Board of Directors. If you are interested in a position and/or would like to share an idea for an event which you can help us coordinate, please contact Bill Bachand, FLC president, at [email protected]. The election will take place later this month. Positions run from July 1, 2017, to July 1, 2018.

Our club develops activities throughout the entire year. So whether you’re a snowbird or a full-time resident, there’s always something to do at FLC and, together, we can continue our goal of creating and fostering friendships while having fun. We look forward to seeing you at any and all of our club events.
