In April, the Fun Lakers Club (FLC) nominated new board and committee chairs for the upcoming season. In May, the position for activities chair remained open. We would like to now congratulate Donna and Felix Petrillo as our new co-chairs. Voting for this position took place at the May FLC board meeting, by unanimous vote. Welcome aboard, Donna and Felix. It’s going to be a great season.
On July 21, Fun Lakers Club members and guests will be attending Sister Act at the Hale Center Theatre in downtown Gilbert. The cost for tickets is $24.00 per person; a savings of $6.00 per ticket if purchased at the theatre. Please contact Frank Mills at [email protected] for additional information.
The Sun Lakes Dance Party group has now officially merged with the Fun Lakers Club. With this merger, our club has become the largest social group in the Sun Lakes community. The cost for joining Fun Lakers remains $12.00 per year per member. The cost for the 2018-2019 six dance parties, with music by Thaddeus Rose, is $50.00 per person.
Dates for the dance parties will be October 18, November 15, January 17, February 21, March 21 and April 11. The dances will be held at the Cottonwood San Tan Ballroom. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., dance lessons begin at 6:30 p.m. and the open dance will be from 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. Tickets may also be purchased for each event separately. The cost at the door is $12.00 per person.
As the fall season begins, we are planning a variety of new and fun activities. As each event becomes available, all members receive the event flyer and registration form by email. The information will also be posted on our website at www.funlakers.org. Upcoming events include Game Night, Chili for Charity and a Cart/Car Road Rally. Our annual Holiday Dinner/Dance will be held on Saturday, December 15. It is one of the club’s premiere events of the year, with a featured band and a special holiday menu. Be sure to mark your calendar and save the date.
The Fun Lakers Club is all about creating and fostering new and lasting friendships and, of course, Having Fun! If you haven’t joined or are not sure if it’s the right match for you and you are staying in Sun Lakes over the summer, this may be the perfect time of year to give us a try.
