Fun Lakers Club planning events to “keep cool” this summer

On May 20, the Fun Lakers Club held a picnic at Sisk Park in Palo Verde. After enjoying our “All-American” picnic of burgers, hotdogs and watermelon, everyone had the opportunity to test their athletic skills by competing in putting and hole-in-one golf contests, tossing horseshoes for ringers and strategically bowling bocce balls for the highest score. Bocce ball champion Beth Derheim also provided bocce ball lessons for picnic-goers.

Because summer is right around the corner, the Fun Lakers Club is planning several events for keeping cool while enjoying time out with friends. Our club develops these monthly activities so that whether you’re a snowbird or a full-time resident, there’s always something to do at FLC.

On June 20, FLC members and guests will be attending Aida at the Hale Center Theater in Gilbert. The cost per person is $22.00, and you also have the option of meeting beforehand for dinner at a local Gilbert restaurant. Please contact Frank Mills at [email protected] for additional information.

Fun Lakers Club will be hosting a wine-tasting event with appetizers at D’Vine Bistro & Wine Bar on Alma School in Chandler on July 15. Tentative plans are also being made for a bowling and billiards event on August 19. A casual dinner menu will also be provided. Details for each of these events will be available on our website, www.funlakers.org, and event flyers and registration forms will be sent directly to all members via email, as they become available.

Fun Lakers Club is all about creating and fostering new and lasting friendships and having fun. If you haven’t joined or are not sure if it’s the right match for you and you are staying here for the summer, why not give us a try now? Our membership form is on our website at www.funlakers.org or contact Jackie Morgan, membership chairperson, at [email protected]. The cost is $12.00 per person. The season for fun lasts all year around for the Fun Lakers Club; why not let FLC help put the “gold” in your “golden years”?
