Fun Lakers Club of Sun Lakes services those residents of Cottonwood, Ironwood, Oakwood, Palo Verde, and Sun Lakes Country Club. Our mission is to create and foster camaraderie and fellowship of the Sun Lakes Fun Lakers community by coordinating social activities for the enjoyment of the memberships. In 2020, our membership was over 400, with 20% of our members being single and part of our “Solo” group. Feb. 15 each year is an unofficial holiday called “Singles Appreciation Day.” It serves as a complement to Valentine’s Day for people who are single, and is a celebration of all forms recognizing the love between friends, family, and loving yourself.

On Feb. 14, we will have a Singles Appreciation Day Concert featuring Thaddeus Rose, at 2 p.m. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, this is a “listening” event, as dancing is not yet allowed due to social distancing regulations, but “wiggling in your seat” to the beat is expected. This concert is open to all members ($18) and non-members ($22). Seating is limited and is held outdoors in the wedding area at Oakwood Country Club, with tables for six socially spaced apart, and masks are required to enter the area. There will be a cash bar. Come treat yourselves and head out to the party, socialize with friends, come alone or bring a date, and who knows, maybe even meet a new “best friend.” Couples are also welcome, so celebrate Valentine’s Day with the concert and maybe “happy hour” at Oakwood after the show.
