FUNdaMENTAL Bridge classes for everyone!

The calendar says that autumn begins in September. Here in Sun Lakes, we know that’s still wishful thinking for a while longer! What is accurate though, is that folks start returning from their summer getaways, and our social calendars start filling up with lots of entertainment and activity events!

That’s true for the Cottonwood Palo Verde Foundation, as well. You’ll surely want to mark some of our upcoming fundraising events on your calendar, such as the fun and lucrative 50/50 raffles we conduct in the hour preceding the concerts held in Cottonwood’s San Tan Ballroom.

The next two shows will be on Tuesday, September 24 – The Day the Music Died, and on Tuesday, October 15 – Creedence Clearwater Revival Tribute. Concert tickets for each show are $20 per person and can be purchased at the Cottonwood Palo Verde Homeowner Services Office.

Our Fourth Annual Fun Walk is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2019! The Fun Walk has grown in popularity each year because it’s such an enjoyable thing to do on a beautiful fall morning, and it brings people together from all the Sun Lakes communities – regardless of their physical prowess!

There are three walks to choose from when you register: The First Wave, for brisk walkers, has a 2.7 mile route; the Second Wave, for casual walkers, has a 1 mile route; the Third Wave is for leisurely walkers who just want to stroll and chat or even walk with their fur-babies! This route is only 1/2 mile long.

Registration for the Fun Walk is required by October 17, 2019. The Fun Walk entry fee is $20 which includes a short-sleeve T-shirt, or $25 which includes a long-sleeve T-shirt. In addition to your T-shirt, your entry fee includes a goody bag and admission to the Kick-Off Party held the evening before the Fun Walk! Registration forms and waivers are available at Homeowner Services or on the Cottonwood Palo Verde Foundation website, www.CWPVFoundation.org.

The Cottonwood Palo Verde Foundation will hold our largest fundraising event of the year, Eat, Drink & Be Merry, on December 19, 2019. Tickets will go on sale October 29. Plan ahead and gather your friends for a gala evening with delicious food and dancing in the San Tan Ballroom. Don’t forget to bring your checkbooks to help the Cottonwood Palo Verde Foundation continue to support local service organizations and charities in Sun Lakes and the East Valley! Just as a reminder, your local Cottonwood Palo Verde Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charity itself, so your donations are very likely to be tax deductible.

If your club or service organization’s efforts complement the Foundation’s Mission Statement, “to enhance the quality of life for the older population of Sun Lakes and the East Valley in the areas of health, education, and culture,” it may be eligible for a grant from the Foundation. Grant applications can also be downloaded from the Foundation’s website.
