The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program will again be available for Sun Lakes residents. It will be open on Fridays from 9 a.m. to noon, starting Jan. 31, 2020. The site is located at the Chandler-Gilbert Community College Sun Lakes Center located at 25105 S. Alma School Road (northeast corner of Alma School and Riggs Roads).

Appointments for tax preparation are available by visiting in person the Administration Services counter at the Sun Lakes Country Club or by calling 480-895-9270, Ext. 111. The appointment times will be 9 a.m., 10 a.m., 11 a.m., or noon. Walk-ins will be available on a limited basis as available.

Both federal and state returns are filed electronically, and both spouses must be present to sign the completed return for married filing jointly. Bring the following documents with you when you come to the tax site: picture ID, Form SSA-1099 Social Security Benefit Statement (or Social Security card), proof of all income such as 1099-R forms, W-2 forms, interest and dividend 1099 forms, self-employment records, etc. Also bring your prior year tax returns for both federal and state. If you would like any refund to be directly deposited into your bank account, bring a blank check so we may accurately get your bank routing number and your account number.

We DO NOT prepare tax forms that include house/home rentals, married filing separately, non-deductible IRAs, or casualty and theft losses. If you have any questions, please contact Russ Puckett at 480-883-7276.
