Grandparents Fishing Derby a huge success

Jim McWhirter

The Anglers Club Grandparents’ Fishing Derby was held on March 31 at Lake 6. The event was very well attended, the weather was great and best of all, fishing was good and 18 fish were caught – 16 of them weighed over 3 pounds. The largest catfish caught weighed 4.1 pounds and was landed by Carter Anduore just before the derby ended at 11:00 a.m. His proud grandmother watched as his sisters screamed in excitement. Second place went to Megan Ingraham; third place, Noah Davis; fourth place, Christian Arstino and fifth place to Alexia Knate.

Other awards were given to most fish caught, Liliana Lasaivia, the first fish caught, Callie Atkinson, and total weight of all the fish caught was awarded to Dyllan Rapke. Each winner received a new fishing pole.

Thanks to all the grandparents who attended and made this a memorable experience for their grandchildren and the Anglers Club. As we say, our fishing derbies are, “All about the kids.”
