On April 26, Howard J. Rudge was Positive Path’s East Valley Man of the Year at their annual A Night of Heroes Gala.

A native of Scranton, Pennsylvania, Howard earned a chemical engineering degree from Bucknell University and a law degree from George Washington University. After a lengthy and productive career at the DuPont Corporation, he retired as general counsel and senior vice president.

As the founder and trustee of The Rudge Foundation, Howard has championed educational programs providing scholarships for women and men at Bucknell University and George Washington Law School.

During the past several years, Howard has been a major contributor to Positive Paths’ scholarship and mentoring programs for women in the East Valley. As one of his supporters says, “There are many ways that Howard Rudge has helped women though his philanthropic support in areas of advocacy for women’s health education and overall well-being.”

As an active member of Sun Lakes Rotary, Howard has been an advocate of women’s health by contributing to the Dignity Health program, Power of the Purse. He assisted in the purchase of equipment and staffing for a dental clinic, stroke camps and mammography units, as well as the creation of memory boxes for women who have lost children.

Neighbors Who Care has received generous financial assistance from Howard and his wife Loie.

Every Thursday, Howard visits a memory-loss facility, delighting residents with his vocal renditions of songs from the thirties and forties.

Since arriving in Sun Lakes in 2011, Howard has generously provided his time, talents and treasure to worthy causes.
