IMGA news and events

John Concannon, Publicity

The summer heat is gone, the golf course has been overseeded and the cart path only restriction has ended, so welcome to another fine season of golf at Ironwood Golf Club. Joe Mandour, our Grounds and Greens Chairman, indicates that the course, with a few minor exceptions, is in wonderful shape.

By the time this article is published, the First annual IronOaks Ryder Cup tournament will be completed. I say the first annual as it is my hope, and that of the IMGA Board, that the tournament was a big success. It offered a new and refreshing format for a tournament not experienced in IronOaks play. Hopefully, it also improved inter club relations while providing a new approach to our tournaments. Maybe next year it could be expanded to the Sun Lakes Ryder Cup tournament.

Welcome to our newest members, Joe Morgan, Kurt Friebig and Larry Johnson. Joe has been a handicap only member before joining the ranks of the active membership. Kurt is a non-resident member, living in Chandler and became familiar with IMGA thru his friend, Dan Jonkers. Welcome to IMGA. Hopefully as 2016 applications come in, we will be inviting more new members.

I spoke to Jim Wegman recently and he is on the mend after a serious medical situation involving surgery and a stay at Chandler hospital. We hope to see you soon on the course, Jim.

The 2016 IMGA membership forms are available in the Pro Shop. You are encouraged to complete the forms and deposit them in the drop box along with your check as soon as possible. The fee for the full year is $110.

Finally, the term of the current Board of Directors is soon coming to an end. Anyone interested in serving on the Board is encouraged to do so by contacting me as soon as possible. The slate of officers will be posted on December 8 and a vote taken the following week on December 15.
