Improv classes to be offered in September

If you love being on stage in front of an audience, have we got a class for you! Or if you’re a little uncomfortable performing in front of a group and would like to feel more relaxed doing that, have we got a class for you! Seriously. And it’s the same class!

Howard and Andrea Hummel will be teaching a four-week class in Improvisational Theater this fall. The class will meet for four consecutive Mondays: September 16, 23, and 30 and October 7, from 10:00 a.m. to noon in Room A-9 (Phoenix Room) in Cottonwood. The class is free for SLCT members; for non-members the cost is $20, which will pay for an SLCT (Sun Lakes Community Theatre) yearly membership.

For those not familiar with Improv, think about the TV show Whose Line is it Anyway? Of course, that show is edited, but that’s the general idea. Players are given a situation, a character, or a prop, and they are asked to create a short scene, usually comic. The class will be geared for beginners, and it will cover basic improv rules and games and then progress through some creative twists on old, familiar games. Participants will need to wear comfortable clothes and shoes.

Class size is limited, so register soon to be guaranteed a spot. Register for the class by calling Howard Hummel at 541-514-0000. Come, join us!
