Barbara Ann Tarpinian

Barbara Ann Tarpinian passed peacefully on Wednesday, September 27, 2017, after heroically battling a rare illness. Barbara was born on May 13, 1933, in the small town of Williford, Arkansas. She moved as a child to Detroit, Michigan, where she attended Cass Tech High School and subsequently earned her nursing degree at Harper Hospital. Barbara was a dedicated nurse at Harper Hospital and later, after her children were almost grown, she returned to the workforce at Providence Hospital in Southfield, Michigan, and St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Pontiac, Michigan. There she continued her love and devotion to her patients. From time to time, she would assist her husband in his medical practice. When she wasn’t taking care of family or patients, she would root on her local sports teams. Saturdays would find her in maize and blue urging the Wolverines onto victory. Go Blue! Seven months of the year were all about the Red Wings. Her attire changed to red and white.

Besides football and hockey, Barbara enjoyed the many bridge groups she was a part of at Sun Lakes as well as reading her mystery novels. Her family will miss her thoughtfulness, her wit and her cooking – especially her strawberry rhubarb pie and split pea soup.

In sorrow we must go, but not in despair. Behold! We are not bound forever to the circles of the world, and beyond them is more than memory.

Arrangements under the direction of Valley of the Sun Mortuary & Cemetery, Chandler, AZ.
