Nancy Davis, Publicity

2018 Executive Board: Members of the 2018 Executive Board are President Denise Fleshner, Vice President Judy Thompson, Treasurer Rachel Enloe and Secretary Nancy Heberling. Thank you, ladies, for retaining these positions in 2018, and we look forward to your continued leadership and another great year of golf.

Ironwood Lady Niners standing committees: In addition to the executive board, the Ironwood Lady Niners League has standing committees that give their time and expertise to make our club so successful and fun. 2018 Standing committee members are pairings/games: Linda Liberti and Barb Sletto; scoring: Deb Burns; handicaps: Dottie Meade; membership: Janis Gustafson; orientation: Judy Frink; communications: (Nancy Davis-retiring position); AWGA representative/ringers: Deborah Poropat; brunch and table decorations: Barb Johnston; outside invitationals: Kay Blas and webmaster: Ann Gavin. Thank you very much, ladies – you all are the “magic wand” that makes our league successful. Our IWLN is very fortunate to have such wonderful volunteers who work hard to keep our league running smoothly. Please note, we are in need of a communications chairperson to primarily publish articles about our great league for the Sun Lakes Splash. Interested members please contact President Denise Fleshner at 517-881-9840 or Nancy Davis at 480-802-3133.

Upcoming March Events: Our next board meeting will be on Wednesday, March 7, at 10:30 a.m., and our next All Hands general meeting will be Wednesday, March 14, at 10:00 a.m. Both meetings will be held in the Ironwood Clubhouse.

Membership: We give a big welcome to new members Mary Ellen Hayden, Phyllis Heslin and Kathy LeDuc. Thank you for joining our IWLN.

Golf Buddies Program: About one year ago, our IWLN orientation chairperson Judy Frink created the “Golf Buddies Program” where at orientation, each new member is offered a seasoned IWLN member to assist her in becoming familiar with the league. Usually, if a new member is new to the area, unfamiliar with league play or doesn’t know anyone, she may request a golfing buddy. She is assigned a volunteer, and the volunteer will contact her about when they can play together. The pairings committee is notified to schedule both to the same foursome for one or two weeks. Since the inception of this program, seven volunteers provided this service 26 times during the 2017 golf year. Wonderful job, Judy, and thank you to the seven volunteers. If you would like information about our fabulous league, please contact membership chair Janis Gustafson at 701-388-5833.
