Michael Cohen

The Friends of Israel, Sun Lakes Jewish Congregation, presents “Jewish and Islamic Traditions; Similarities and Differences – Then Came Israel” on April 8, 2018, from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. at the Sun Lakes Chapel Center, 9240 E. Sun Lakes Blvd., Sun Lakes, AZ 85248.

The speaker will be Karolyn Benger who currently serves as the Director of The Jewish Community Relations Initiative, a project of the Board of Rabbis of Greater Phoenix. She is a graduate of Emory University where she has taught classes on Politics of the Middle East, Political Islam and Comparative Politics. She is a strong advocate for social justice.

This talk will focus on the relationship of these two major religions over the centuries. A relative acceptance changed dramatically after the establishment of Israel on May 14, 1948. The implications of this very long history have relevance to understanding the current politics of the Middle East.

This event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served, and there will be no solicitations. For inquiries, call 480-895-4660.
