Love is in the photograph

Ann Posiviata

There is plenty to do this coming February. The shortest month of the year is jammed packed with events to attend and photograph. Subject matter is vast, from majestic Arabian horses, athletes of golf and baseball, to festivals offering stunning artistry like hoop dancing and the Chinese culture, along with a chocolate lover’s dream. Street photography will be widespread for opportunities for entry in an upcoming competition in photojournalism. So, keep your eye out.

Photography Tips and Tricks: Take advantage of burst mode on your camera. This can capture a variety of expressions in portrait photography; a myriad of action shots for athletes and can capture animals with a touch of humor or emotion in the shot. Some that photographers such as Olga Topchii (you can see her portfolio at www.olgatopchii.com) enjoy using burst mode to capture a range of human emotions during events she has covered. Her work might inspire you to embrace burst mode more. Another advantage using burst mode is by getting low so a “jump shot” can appear higher. Burst mode can also provide a series of shots used for a stunning triptych.
