Love was in the air

The IronOaks Tennis Club held its annual Valentine’s Social on Saturday, February 10, at the Oakwood tennis courts. What could be a more appropriate way to prepare for Valentine’s Day than a sport that features Love in its scoring?

Over 40 participants took part in doubles play over two 45-minute sessions. St. Valentine (aka Mike Davin) and his partner Cupid (aka Dar Brasch) organized the random pairing of the couples. The players therefore had the chance to play, in many instances, with partners new to them. A good time was evidenced by the smiling faces as the hardworking folks lined up to help themselves to copious bowls of ice cream, toppings, cookies and drinks following play.

Decorations and refreshments were tasks of the event committee: Carole Rockland, Edith Tanniru and Claire Wilcox. In addition, a raffle was held for a free tennis lesson donated by Tennis Pro Kwong Young. Love, indeed, was in the air!
