MOGA news and scores

Wayne Karp, Publicity

Greetings, my fellow MOGA golfers. This is my first article as the publicity person with MOGA. On behalf of the MOGA board and myself personally, I want to thank Bob Greene for his mentoring and the many years of service he has provided as publicity person for the Men’s Oakwood Golf Association. He has done a marvelous job, and I only hope I can fill the big shoes he has left for me.

New to the area or just looking for a great way to spend time on the course and meet some new friends? Why not join MOGA (Men’s Oakwood Golf Association)! We have golfers at every level, and play is every Thursday with a morning and afternoon shotgun start for you to choose from. Come join the FUN! Membership application and other details are available on the MOGA website, http://www.mogagolf.org/.

The MOGA Championship has been changed to February 8 and 15. If you hurry, there is still time to sign up. Signup is through Chelsea.

The January 18 Member/Member was a success with over 120 members playing this year.

For play on February 1, 8 and 15, MOGA will have only one shotgun start at 10:00 a.m. to avoid potential problems with frost delays. Beginning on February 22, play will resume again with a morning and afternoon shotgun. Hopefully, we should be clear of any frost delays by then.

Upcoming schedule for MOGA games:

February 1 – ABCD Rainbow

February 8 – MOGA Championships Round 1

February 15 – MOGA Championships Round 2

February 22 – Beat the Pro (80% handicap)

March 1 – Low Gross/Low Net

March 8 – ABCD – 3 Club Monte

New this year for the March 29 Member/Guest, you can bring any guest who is not a member of MOGA, male or female … even your wife! This event promises to be one of the best for the year. Put the date on your calendar now. More details in the March Splash, the MOGA newsletter and on the website.

If you have never played in a Home and Home tournament, you should try one. You will have two chances coming in March and April. It is a great way to meet some new “friends” and compete against others. March 22 and 24 will be with Palo Verde. April 12 and 14 will be with Cottonwood. Come join the FUN!

Reminder: PLEASE remember to fix your pitch marks on the green and sand fill your fairway divots. It takes ALL of us to help keep our courses looking as good as they can be. When fixing marks on the green or fairway divots, look for another one or two to fix. It’s our course: If we don’t care, who will?
