My love of Tai Chi

Kim Kubsch

Life in balance is a body in motion. When we are accustomed to moving quickly and with ease, slowing down can be difficult to do. Why do I love Tai Chi-Qigong like I do? Moving gracefully and with ease is beautiful to watch. While living and working throughout Asia for 10 years, I would marvel at the beauty these slow movements offered. Unfortunately, I never slowed down to enjoy them – until seven years ago, when I started sharing my love of Tai Chi-Qigong with the mature population. Now, I am able to enjoy and help others improve coordination, reduce stress, plus prevent falls, fractures and their disastrous consequences.

My classes are designed for mature adults to help strengthen the lower extremities, while continually moving, improving agility and calming the mind and body. My mixed-level class (for beginners and intermediate levels) is on Thursdays from 10:45-11:45 a.m. at the Mirror Room in Sun Lakes Country Club. All drop-in classes are $5. Wear rubber-soled shoes and comfortable clothes and bring water.

For residents of Renaissance, classes at the new Assisted Living Building are from 9:15-10:15 a.m. and at the Independent Living/Main Building from 10:15-11:15 a.m.

To practice at your convenience, try any of my three easy and gentle Tai Chi and balance DVDs: www.SafeMovements.com or call me at 480-392-3436 for free delivery in the Sun Lakes area. And when you see my license plate, “IN LOVE,” you will know I am in love with life and Tai Chi!
