Our natural environment has created some truly mystical masterpieces, such as the Grand Canyon, the Great Barrier Reef and the Black Forest. Most of these extraordinary sites have taken years of mother nature’s time to create. Recently, someone documented some foreign blue substance left behind at the Wave. I would like to make the gentle reminder that we are guests who are allowed to visit these protected areas as well as having access to private lands and property. Please be conscious of where you are when attempting to capture a photograph during your travels. Also, speak up (individual or group), if you notice others trespassing and/or causing what could be irreparable harm. Let’s leave it better than we found it, photographer and tourist alike.

Products/Editing Tips and Tricks: Industrial strength Velcro is a nifty trick for easy access to your remote shutter release. Just place on a tripod leg and the back of the remote, allowing you to get to it quickly. Keeping the elements out, like rain or dust, can be difficult. Acratech makes a sleek Double Axis Spirit Level that slides into the hotshoe of your camera. This makes leveling your camera an easy task when shooting on uneven terrain.

Member/Club News: The SLCC will be hosting the Arizona Camera Club Council’s Fall Round Up. This year’s event will be held at the Cottonwood Country Club on Saturday, November 4, 2017, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Rotating category is Water. Featured speaker will be Kathleen Reeder discussing Essentials in Wildlife Photography and Venues for Photo Sharing. Tickets are $25.00. The club meeting on Thursday, November 2, 2017, will be off-site. It will be a social and roundtable discussion held at Floridino’s Pizza & Pasta restaurant in Chandler. Competition Night is on Thursday, November 16, 2017. Start time 6:30 p.m. Our member Fall Trip is scheduled for November 6 through November 9. Check with Dale Willey for more information. The Sun Lakes Camera Club (SLCC) meets the first and third Thursdays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Navajo Room of the Sun Lakes Country Club from October through April.
