Plenty of changes coming for the FOL Bookstore

Andrea Hummel

For many years, residents of Sun Lakes have relied on the Friends of the Library Bookstore in the Robson Library for low prices on books and magazines.

Started by Viginia Waxmonsky and Eva Gunnoe, the store has been open six days a week and has been staffed by volunteers. All the books and magazines are donated, so that makes it possible to keep the prices low. Magazines are 10 cents, paperbacks 25 cents, trade paperbacks 50 cents and hardback books $1.00. Jigsaw puzzles, CDs and DVDs are $1.00.

Because of many upcoming changes, the FOL bookstore will not be able to accept any donations after October 31, 2018. Please do not leave any books, magazines or other materials.

But… come to the bookstore each week in October for even lower prices on special items every week. Right now, all holiday items (craft books, fiction books, music) are on sale. Look for the sales cart outside the bookstore door. Stock up on your reading, listening and other materials in October, as the bookstore will be closed part of November and all of December.

Then watch for a reopening of the bookstore in January (date to be announced). If you’re interested in making the bookstore even better, come to the monthly FOL meeting October 10 in the Lecky Room.
