Wow! How can we stand all of this sunshine and warmth! It’s the reason we are here in Sun Lakes, and some folks are already heading north! Of course, in a couple of months, we full-timers might be thinking of ways to join them for a while.

With the rains receding, the Palo Verde men have been active as usual and we have the following to report:

On Saturday, February 11, the 2017 Sweetheart Tournament was won by Bud Murray, Paddy Newton, Dick Thomas and Pam Mason with a score of 81! The afternoon 2 Best Ball’s event was won by Vic Lech, Al Baumgartner, Paul Koehler and Vaughn Torgusen! Congratulations, all!

A Home and Home contest with Fountain of the Sun CC was played on Thursday, February 16, and Saturday, February 18. The winners, with a score of 197, were Will Herling and Jim Nichols from FOSCC and Daryl Ramseyer and Norm Allard from PVCC. A hole-in-one on No. 5 by Ron Cox was the highlight of the match! (An afternoon Select-a-Drive was rained out.)

The 2017 PVMGA Club Championship was conducted on February 25 and March 4. Our current club champion is now Jerry Davis who shot a total of 127! Congratulations, Jerry! The runner-up was Jack Hill, and the Masters Champion was Gary Whiting.

Flight winners were Daryl Ramseyer, Gerald Brock and James Granzow.

A 2/25/17 2 Best Ball’s battle was won by Mike Pasternak, Hal Newton, Bill Hull and Tom Burns with a score of 97.

A 3/04/17 1 Best ball was won by Don Hicks, Mike Pasternak(again!), Bill Davis and Tom Burns(again!) with a score of 43.

Word has been received of the passing of Dave Holaday, a longtime member of the PVMGA, on February 25. Dave made many friends at Palo Verde, and he will be missed.
