Risen Savior Food Drive collects over 2.5 tons of food

Rev. Ron Burcham, Sr. Pastor of Risen Savior Lutheran Church, expressed the heart-felt thanks of Risen Savior’s congregation and staff to the countless Sun Lakes residents who joined us in contributing to the tremendous success of Risen Savior’s 2018 Spring Food Drive.

“We first ventured into this food drive in 2014 to make a positive impact on our community,” said Rev. Burcham. “Knowing that there are some in the Chandler area who struggle to put food on the table while our cupboards are full was just unacceptable. We knew that, as individuals, we could make a difference, but if we pooled our resources and asked for God’s blessing, we could have a substantial impact,” he added.

“During our five annual Spring Food Drives, we have gathered and donated a combined total of more than 13 tons of food. Being joined by so many of our neighbors in Sun Lakes has made a significant difference in the success of this program. This year, we collected and donated over two and a half tons of canned and packaged goods. As in the past, this year’s donations will play a key role in providing food assistance to many of our neighbors throughout the summer months. We are very grateful to everyone who donated to the 2018 Spring Food Drive,” Rev. Burcham said.
