Risen Savior Quilt and Bake Sale set for December 10

Barb Fox

Come celebrate our 10th annual Quilt and Bake Sale on December 10 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at Risen Savior Lutheran Church, 23914 S. Alma School Road. Our quilts range in price and size from $15.00 for baby quilts to $75.00 for king-size.

We will also have a quilt raffle; this year it will be king-size, and tickets are $2.00 each or three for $5.00.

We will have two tables full of great treats, such as cookies, fudge, peanut brittle, cakes and pies.

The proceeds from our sale are used to purchase batting and other supplies to provide quilts and hats for the Salvation Army, Phoenix Rescue Mission, Orphan Grain Train, Desert Cove Nursing Home, Arizona’s Children Association and Child Crisis Arizona.

We also make bandages and send them to Global Health Ministries which, in turn, sends them overseas for doctors to use in quality healthcare for the world’s most vulnerable people in underdeveloped countries. Some of the proceeds from our sale are used for postage. So far this year, we have sent 10 medium-size boxes to Global Health Ministries.

This is a ministry our women love to be involved in. Some of the women create beautiful quilt tops at home. We meet on Wednesday afternoon in the fellowship hall to put the quilts together. We are always in need of cotton or cotton-blend fabrics, crochet thread and yarn. If you have any of these items you would like to donate or would like to become part of our group (you do not have to be a seamstress), please stop by or contact the church at 480-895-6782.
