The gourd totem shown was created by Pat Richards combining various southwestern motifs and lots of beautiful colors on her five-canteen tower; great job, Patti.

Our members (both here and away) have worked these past few months on our travelling gourd which will be on display in front of the Competition Building at the Wuertz Gourd Festival near Casa Grande next February. Each patch of the Arizona Gourd Association will be represented by a unique project. The projects will be placed in the Game of Chance at the Festival and are well worth the price of the tickets.

A number of our members experienced another beautiful summer here in the East Valley of Phoenix and whiled away the time creating lovely gourd art. Those who travelled to other destinations were also working on their creations. It will be exciting to see the show and tell at the October 15 meeting!

If you are interested in losing yourself in the art of gourding, do not hesitate to contact Vicki McKenna at 480-802-1632. The Patch meets monthly on the third Thursday of the month at the Arts & Crafts Room in Sun Lakes Country Club and visitors are welcome.
