Spring fishing taking shape

The club will host the Grandparents Derby on March 26, the Saturday before Easter Sunday. This fishing experience is for grandchildren of all Sun Lake residents. It is held at Lake Six which is directly behind the Sun Lakes Country Club Clubhouse. Sign in at 8:30 a.m. and fishing begins at 9:00 a.m. For the sign in you will need a current homeowners card. The club has fishing equipment and bait for those who do not have their own. We are making plans for the spring fishing derbies. Looks like March will be a busy month. So far we have commitments for Tuesday, March 1, Wednesday, March 9 and Friday, March 11 from our local schools.

Our fishing days are not only done with club members but we have developed a loyal following of fisherpersons who drop by and enjoy the fun of fishing with the youngsters. We would welcome any time you might spare. These folks continue to come back so it must be fun.

These activities are made possible by our generous donors and proceeds from the flea market on the third Saturday of the month at the SLCC parking lot from 7:00- 11:00 a.m. As you know, our schools are in a budget crunch. Most are no longer able to afford the cost of transporting children to the derbies so the Anglers are helping using funds from our flea market sales. We need things to sell at the flea market. You can help by looking around and finding things that make you think “Why am I keeping this?” Call Don Herring at 480-802-9320 for drop-off or pick up. The February market is on Saturday, February 20 followed by Saturday, March 19. For a booth of your own at the flea market contact the SLCC office at the clubhouse. Only a $5 fee gets you a spot. See you there.

We meet on the first Tuesday of the month in the Mirror Room SLCC at 7:00 p.m. New members are welcome and like all clubs, needed.
