Students complete advanced acting class

Fourteen eager thespians enrolled this fall in an Advanced Acting class taught by Karen Stanley Burns. The eight-week class covered work on monologues and two-person scenes, as well as some new techniques to understand and perfect character motivation. The classes met either in the Poolside Cafe or the Bradford Room, both in Oakwood.

Sponsored by Sun Lakes Community Theatre as part of the club’s mission to bring theater-relevant educational opportunities to Sun Lakes, Ms. Burns has taught Advanced Acting here twice before. Several of this year’s students have taken her classes previously and liked her work so much they signed up to take them again.

“Thanks for your generosity of spirit, Karen, and pushing us to risk more,” commented one student. “I enjoyed the class a lot. Thank you, Karen and all the students. I learned from each of you,” commented another.

Ms. Burns charges a flat fee for her class, so the number of students enrolled determined the cost for each student. v
