Sun Lakes Camera Club

It’s that time to celebrate the fabulous year in photographs. So be sure to make your reservation for the best show of the year before end-of-year seats are filled. A shout-out to all the members who have made it a banner year to be a part of the Sun Lakes Camera Club!

Featured Image: Our featured image is by Dick Negaard, Milky Way Over Remote Pines, having received second place, Open-Prints, Class A. At a remote lake in Minnesota close to the Canadian border near Lake Superior, Dick set up his tripod with Rokinon f/2.8 at 14mm-wide angle, 20 seconds and 6400 ISO. With a group, he began shooting the considerably-cloudy night sky with various settings before the sky cleared revealing the Milky Way to land this shot at 3:30 a.m. Patience is necessary, especially at night, yet Dick’s goal was to light up the Milky Way, get plenty of stars and avoid too much noise. Beautifully done!

Photography Tips and Tricks: Learn the rules first, so you have more creative control when breaking them later. Learn as you go; don’t let it prevent you from picking up a camera. The more mistakes you make, the faster you’ll learn and improve your photography skills. Also, focusing on what you love will make photography more enjoyable for you. This will keep you interested in photography and allow you to overcome learning obstacles without breaking a sweat.
