Sun Lakes Community Theatre offers two acting classes

Two acting classes are being offered by Sun Lakes Community Theatre, beginning this January. Residents of Sun Lakes and SunBird are invited to attend either class.

Beginning Acting will be offered on the following Saturdays: January 28, February 4 and February 11. Times are Noon-3:00 p.m. The location is Cottonwood, Room A-6. There are no prerequisites and there is no cost.

Beginning Acting is intended for people with little, or no, acting experience, as well as for those who may not desire to act but want to learn the basics and just have fun! The areas covered will include stage directions, blocking, blocking notation, character analysis, auditions and implementing critiques. Class members will write a character analysis and perform a prepared scene in class. Merrie Crawford will be teaching this class.

Advanced Acting will be offered as a six week class. Classes will be on Thursdays, from January 19-February 23. Times are 10:00 a.m.-noon. The location is Cottonwood, Room A-7. Advanced Acting is for the committed actor who wants to continue developing his/her craft. It is for the actor who has had significant roles in plays and has strong memorization skills. Class members will work on monologue and scene study techniques that stress focus and deep insights into character. Although it will be reasonable, the exact cost for this class will be determined by the number of students taking the class. Karen Burns will be teaching this class.
