Sun Lakes Garden Club enjoys November field trip

The Sun Lakes Garden Club enjoyed a field trip in November to The Farm at Agritopia in Gilbert where we had a guided tour of the community gardens and the production farm. We learned about the Johnston Family Foundation that was formed to protect the farm and urban farming in Arizona. Afterwards, we enjoyed lunch on site at Joe’s Farmhouse Grill.

Members have their annual Holiday Brunch Potluck on December 19. This celebration is for members only, but visitors are welcome at our next club meeting January 15 where we will have a presentation on seeds by Maricopa County Master Gardener Pam Terry. January field trips will be to Caywood Cotton Farm in Casa Grande and to the Japanese Friendship Garden of Phoenix for the annual Ikebana floral arrangement show.

Meetings of the Sun Lakes Garden Club are the third Tuesday of the month, 9:30 a.m. to noon, at the Sun Lakes Chapel Center. The Chapel Center is located across the street from the Sun Lakes Country Club, next to the All Faiths Church.

Visitors are welcome. However, you’ll enjoy yourself so much you’ll want to become a member! Membership is $20 per year for an individual, $25 per year for couples. Questions on our meetings and field trips: 480-540-8080, www.sunlakesgc.org.
