Monthly meetings are the third Tuesday of each month, 9:30 a.m. to noon (followed by optional luncheon). Visitors are welcome.

October 16 (Tuesday): Monthly meeting features club member Vicki Merrill. Vicki is an expert in the benefits of Essential Oils derived from plants. The topic will be “Essential Oils replacing toxic pesticides for gardens and houseplants.” Vicki is informative and passionate about healthful living.

Field Trips:

October 12 (Friday): Members will carpool to the Leaf and Feather Nursery in the town of Maricopa. This is a unique nursery that is only open to the public Friday through Sunday, and they have over 150 exotic birds to view while walking through their nursery. They specialize in plants from Australia, and their prices are good! On the way back, the members will enjoy lunch at Brooklyn Brothers Italian Restaurant in downtown Maricopa.

October 26 (Friday): Members will carpool to Fountain Hills to the private residence of Ron Parker. Ron was featured in Phoenix Home & Garden magazine for being one of the world’s foremost authorities on Agaves. Ron shared a slide presentation with the club last year and invited members to visit his own “Amazing Agave” display.” After the tour, members will enjoy lunch nearby at the American Grill in downtown Fountain Hills. The restaurant is directly across the street from the lakefront park with views of the 300-foot-tall fountain.

November 6 (Tuesday): Members will carpool to the Farm at Agritopia for a private tour ($5 each) of the production farm. The tour also includes the “Biblical Garden” where each plant is listed by the horticultural name, and all species are referenced in the Bible. Members will have the opportunity to purchase fresh produce at the Farmers Market and then enjoy lunch at one of the four restaurants at the farm.

Club Membership is $20 per year and $25 for couples. Meetings are held at the Sun Lakes Chapel Center across the street from the Sun Lakes Country Club, next door to Sun Lakes All Faiths Church.
