In the two past months, the Sun Lakes Garden Club has focused attention at our meetings to safety in our garden and what to do in case wild animals visit our neighborhood. In October, four firemen from Sun Lakes Fire Department told us about rescuing our residents in their garden from heat exhaustion, water dehydration, falls and snakes. Then in November, wildlife biologist Darren Julian from the Arizona Department of Game and Fish, instructed us on ways to treat or safely retreat from wild animals that can visit our neighborhood like rabbit, coyote, fox, javelina and black bear.

Our monthly meeting takes place on the third Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in the Chapel House at Sun Lakes Country Club. On December 15 we will have a potluck brunch. Even though no speaker will be featured, attendees are always welcome to pose their gardening questions to some of our members who are experienced with gardening in the Sonoran Desert.

We welcome guests at our meetings. If you want more information or are interested in becoming a member of the Sun Lakes Garden Club, please contact Nancy Sjolin at 883-3411 or visit our website at www.sunlakesgardenclub.com.
