Sun Lakes Jewish Congregation

As we look towards winding down the year, Sun Lakes Jewish Congregation (SLJC) continues to operate virtually. The congregation is happy to announce a full, rich calendar of events for December. It’s called “going out with a bang,” and SLJC is delighted to have been able to keep its membership involved throughout this pandemic, and will continue to do so as we enter into a new year.

On Tuesday, Dec. 8, at 1 p.m., a Zoom program is scheduled featuring Adena Astrowski, who will be discussing her grandmother’s survival in Auschwitz during the Holocaust. It should be a most interesting presentation. Contact [email protected] for your invite.

On a more joyous note, the Hanukkah Holiday begins the evening of Thursday, Dec. 10, with the lighting of the first candle. SLJC services will take place the next evening, Friday, Dec. 11, at 7 p.m. via YouTube. Of course, Rabbi Irwin Wiener will be officiating with Cantor Ronda Polesky by his side.

The final program for the year will be happening on Tuesday, Dec. 15, at 11 a.m., when Rabbi Wiener and Reverend Vernon Meyer wind up their three-part series with a discussion on ecumenical holidays. This will also be a Zoom meeting.

The Zoom meetings are free to the public.

SLJC sends their wishes to one and all for continued safety and good health as we look forward to a brighter new year.
