Sun Lakes Jewish Congregation news

Doris Codkind, Publicity

Our May 11 service was bittersweet as we honored our outgoing president, Wende Levy. Her hard work and dedication to our congregation has been an inspiration to all of us and we wish her wonderful days ahead. We welcome our new president, Geri Gould, who will continue serving our congregation.

For our Mother’s Day service, we were treated to a rendition of “My Yiddishe Mama,” sung so beautifully by our Cantor Ronda Polesky.

On June 8, we hold our annual healing service and also celebrate Father’s Day.

The Sun Lakes Jewish Congregation is an active, established reform congregation with members of all ages and backgrounds. Shabbat Services are held the second Friday of the month at the Sun Lakes Chapel off Riggs Road and Sun Lakes Boulevard.

Many interesting activities are available to our community through these associated organizations, including the Sisterhood, Men’s Club, Friends of Israel, Hadassah, Jewish War Veterans, and Havurah Chai (singles). Adult education classes will resume in the fall with interesting subjects. There is much to participate in for those who are interested.

As we enter the summer months, our schedule changes. We revert to Twilight Services for July 13 and August 10 that will start at 5:30 p.m.

The July and August issues of the Splash will list the schedule for High Holiday services which begin in September. More details will follow.
