In March, a number of people experienced an outstanding performance of the events in the life of Jesus at the Easter pageant in Mesa.

There was also a movie event designed to improve our skills in media interpretation. It was called Seven Pounds starring Will Smith which was discussed after it was viewed.

March experienced a farewell to Tia Meyer who was one of the original members of Sun Lakes Lutheran Church. Pastor Jane Mitchell was also recognized for her pastoral help over the last two years during the winter months. She and her husband have returned to their home in Canada.

In Holy Week in April, we will have Good Friday Service on April 3 at 3:30 p.m. in the Sun Lakes Chapel. The sermon will be “The Symbols of Good Friday.” The faith journey of atonement as Jesus sacrifices himself for our sins. On the Holy Day we will contemplate the symbols leading up to the crucifixion. It is a quiet service of reflection on the love of God. The Easter service will be Sunday, April 5 at 8:00 a.m. in the Sun Lakes Chapel. Pastor Dale Hallberg will conclude the seven week sermon series on the Lord’s Prayer with the lifting up the final words of praise “The Kingdom, the Power and the Glory are Yours.” After the service, fellowship and refreshments will be in the Chapel Center. Everyone is welcome.

Sun Lakes Lutheran Church meets each Sunday morning at 8:00 a.m. in the Chapel followed by fellowship time in the Chapel Center. Everyone is welcome.
