It was hard to top January’s “Blue Moon” themed Sunday Dance Club event, but the February Sweetheart Gala, the highlight of our season, did just that, and spectacularly so. The San Tan Ballroom’s lavish setting for the formal dinner was stunning … and that was just the beginning of the evening’s delights. The lavish meal featured prime rib and salmon entrees, service was exceptional and music by D.K. Orchestra was superb. Sunday Dance Club members and guests were exquisitely attired in formal gowns and tuxedos, making the elegant evening all the more memorable.

Our February event is the centerpiece of the Sun Lakes Sunday Dance Club season every year. The formal dinner is included in the annual membership, and guests are invited to join at a reasonable cost. For next year, hold the date – February 10, 2019 – for a romantic evening with your Valentine.

Our March 18, 2018 event features music by Memories, big band sound dance band. Closing the season on April 15, 2018, we’ll bring back an all-time favorite band, Route 66. We have exciting plans for our next season – you’ll want to get to know a terrific group of friends, some you already know and some you have yet to meet – who share a love of dancing. Join us!

Sun Lakes Sunday Dance Club welcomes dance couples to join us for fun social Sunday evenings of dance and music. Join us at the San Tan Ballroom at Cottonwood. Doors open at 6:00 p.m.; music and dancing are from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Admission is $20 per guest couple. There’s a cash bar and free coffee all evening. While the band takes a well-earned break, we serve an assortment of delicious cheeses and fresh-baked cookies before dancing resumes.

Prior to each dance, Mary Lou Kaye, our resident dance instructor, invites you to a special “Social Dance Class.” This one-hour lesson, beginning at 4:45 p.m. for a charge of $5 per person, helps a novice dancer enjoy a greater variety of dances. Couples and single dancers meet at the “Dance Studio” room at the Oakwood Complex, located in the first building when you turn into the Oakwood Complex off EJ Robson Blvd. After the class, Mary Lou Kaye hosts a reserved table at the dance for you to try out new steps with fellow students and your awesome instructor.

Another option if you want extra time to socialize with fellow dancers is joining our unhosted dinner gathering at the Cottonwood Lounge at 5:00 p.m. Order from the tantalizing menu and pay your personal tab before strolling into the San Tan Ballroom to dance the night away.
