What motivated you to seek Reiki?

Lois Valleau

Reiki is a gentle yet powerful energy that relaxes the body and promotes healing. Since 1995, the Reiki Circle has been in existence in Sun Lakes. Each Tuesday morning at 9:30 a.m., we meet in Room A-2 in the Cottonwood courtyard to share this healing energy. We offer this service as a way for those new to Reiki to learn about it and those who have been trained in Reiki to practice their skills. There is never a fee, but a love offering is welcomed. It’s interesting to me how we find Reiki.

In my own case, I was living in Seattle in 1993 and through sharing Therapeutic Touch weekly, felt I was making a difference. Then I entered a non-denominational ministerial training program and was informed that Reiki was part of the program. I didn’t know what Reiki was and was reluctant to change. However, it was either learn Reiki or leave the program. I’m so glad I chose Reiki, because it has blessed me and those with whom I have shared it.

“I was part of a group at the Center for Healing Arts in CT practicing meditation, prayer and laying on of hands healing. I couldn’t feel the energy, so I felt I was either a fool or a fraud. Referred to take Reiki, the channels opened for receiving. I could feel the energy and then knew something was happening to benefit another. I could feel the energy even when I sent it halfway around the world.” Rina

“I was helping friends move. A door closed on my finger and I was in extreme pain. A friend said, ‘Let me give you some Reiki.’ A few minutes later, the pain was gone and I could see the healing beginning to take place. The power of Reiki led me to find a class so I could be trained in Reiki.” Toni

“I had been bothered with plantar fasciitis for over five months. Telling some friends about it at a gathering, they offered to give me Reiki. The Reiki felt good, but the best part was the following day my problems with this condition were gone.” Gwen

“I was living in a small town in the south and had been searching for a spiritual group with little luck. After being there for seven years, a colleague invited me to go to such a group. There I was introduced to a Reiki Master and knew this is what I wanted to do. I’ve never regretted it.” Kay

If you are curious about Reiki, come to our Circle. If you already know you’d like to learn how to be a practitioner, Lois is offering a beginning class so you may learn how to give yourself and others Reiki. It will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on June 12, 15, 19 and 22. As a reminder to my former students, you may take this class again for a love offering. For details, call Lois at 480-883-6699.
