Yoga – Vinyasa style

Sheila Axtman

Many of our winter visitors have left for the summer or will be going soon. But we will be here, and Vinyasa Yoga classes will be taught all summer. The yoga classes will be much smaller, so if you have thought about trying Vinyasa Yoga, this is a good time to start.

Vinyasa Yoga is one of the oldest forms of yoga. We will be moving through a sequence of poses: from standing, to forward folding, on to the floor and back to standing, linking motion with breath. We will do a balance and twists in every class. This style of yoga builds strength, stability and self-confidence, and students often tell me they feel really good after class.

These classes are generally not suitable for beginners, but if you are fit and healthy, Tuesday’s classes are designed to be a bit easier than Thursday’s, so Tuesdays may be a good day for you to start.

Class schedule is Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:00 a.m. in Room A-6 in Cottonwood. If you have a yoga mat, bring it. But we do have some available in the room for you to use. There are blocks, blankets and straps available for use in the room.
