Agavé held our Holiday Boutique on Nov. 19, and by all accounts, it was a huge success! Attendees were able to choose from a great variety of items and seemed content to be out holiday shopping after the void felt during COVID-19.
Our annual holiday luncheon was held at Palo Verde Country Club on Dec. 7. Agavé planners Carrol Ediss and Gail Solway, assisted by Judy Cody, outdid themselves! The meal choices were excellent, the décor was festive, and everyone had a great time! A custom batik needle keeper made by Carrol and Gail was at each table setting, and all attendees received one. Gail and Carrol also made wine bottle holder table decorations, and one member of each table was able to take it home. There were raffle prizes and two guessing games: “How many Hershey’s Kisses are in this container?” and “How many yards of fabric are in this basket?” The winner of our UFO Summer Challenge was announced, and it was … me! I finished 15 UFO projects and received a cash prize! A big thanks to everyone at Agavé Quilters Guild for making 2022 such a fabulous year!
The first meeting of 2023 will be held on Jan. 4, at 1 p.m., in the Navajo Room at Sun Lakes Country Club, Phase 1, at 25601 E. Sun Lakes Blvd N., in Sun Lakes. Debra Kay, regional rep for the Studio Art Quilters Association of Arizona (SAQA), will be our guest speaker.
